A consultation is underway to gather residents’ views on the New Local Plan, which will help Blaby District Council plan growth in the district over a 15-year period.
Set to be adopted in 2023, the new Local Plan is a vital document to help shape the district over the coming decades.
The District of Blaby is required to build a minimum number of homes per year and the Consultation sets out how many homes may be needed, where they could be built and how much employment land may be needed. Three main areas are focused on in the consultation document:
- Options for the broad location of future development in the district
- Sites promoted to the Council by landowners, developers and site promoters for built development
- Initial information about the main policies expected to be included in the Local Plan
Councillor Terry Richardson, Leader of Blaby District Council, said: “We absolutely encourage and need the views of local residents, local businesses and community groups to ensure this plan has been shaped by our local communities.
“Growth and development in the district is inevitable, but feedback will better inform us on where our new growth goes and the services and facilities needed for sustainable growth. We also want to make sure that the features in the district that make us unique are protected.
“Residents know their area best and their input is so important. We encourage everyone to set aside the time to read the document and fill in the consultation before 12 March 2021.”
The detailed consultation document gives readers a comprehensive view of the plan and the chance to answer as many of the 32 questions included as they like.
