A Meet the Buyer Event will be held in the Council Chamber, Desford Road, Narborough, LE19 2EP, from 8am-12pm.

The morning has been organised by Wates Construction, the main appointed contractor for the development, in partnership with Blaby District Council.

Wates Construction are keen to involve local firms and give successful bidders the opportunity to access local authority construction projects. The £5 million project will present businesses from the county a chance to benefit from the build programme of the new depot, which will be based adjacent to Enderby Road Industrial Estate, Whetstone.

The new Blaby Vehicle Depot is scheduled to be completed by summer 2016 and will accommodate the Council’s 14 refuse vehicles, a vehicle service area and accommodate 70 members of staff who will transfer from their current base in Littlethorpe.

Cat Hartley, Group Manager for Planning and Economic Development, said:

“We’re looking forward to hosting this event and engaging interested local construction businesses, who we hope will have an important role in this development. Utilising local supply chains is key to boosting our local economy.”

Richard Scarrott, Business Unit Director, Wates Construction Midlands, commented:

“Construction projects are a fantastic means of injecting investment into the local economy and we’re keen to work with the council to engage local sub-contractors and ensure that this opportunity is maximised at Blaby Vehicle Depot. It is our intention that this development will also bring with it opportunities for training and employment and our appointed supply chain will be key in fulfilling this commitment.”
