Local company criticises Jessops after job offers fall on deaf ears

Enderby based pension firm Mattioli Woods, looking to recruit up to 30 people, has said it “beggars belief” that an employment lifeline to Jessops workers has fallen on deaf ears.

Around 80 staff are reported to be still employed at the camera chain’s head office in Braunstone Frith, Leicester.

The 78-year-old company closed all its 187 stores on Friday, two days after calling in administrators. 1,370 jobs were lost.

Mattioli Woods hoped to recruit some of Jessops’s head office staff to fill up to 30 vacancies at its own headquarters in Grove Park, Enderby, but no-one from Jessops would take their call.

Chief executive Ian Mattioli told local media:

“We find ourselves as a business demonstrating annual growth-on-growth, but we are struggling to find staff.

“Our team has tried to contact the HR department of Jessops without any response – it beggars belief. We have a variety of roles available, from support staff to specialised account managers, and HR posts.

“Some roles do not require an office background and we are happy to re-train.”
