Local Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie

Posted on May 31, 2016May 31, 2016 by staff

mariecurielogoA Blooming Great Tea Party on Wednesday 15th June 2016 will help raise vital funds for Marie Curie, the charity which provides care and support for people living with a terminal illness and their families.

Tea parties in aid of Marie Curie, held the length and breadth of the UK between 20th and 29th June, have raised over £4.5 million since the campaign started in 2008.

Our local event, starting at 2.30pm, is being held in St Pius X church grounds, Leicester Road, Narborough LE19 5DF.

Parking has been organised at the Heritage Hotel – 50 yards along the road – and the event is open to anyone who would like to catch up with friends old and new and enjoy tea and cake for a good cause.

The tea party tickets are £2.50 (children FREE) and will include home-made cakes, plant sale, tombola, Phoenix Cards, a raffle, and much, much more!

There is also a fun quiz to answer and be in with the chance to win a prize.

Every donation made from a Blooming Great Tea Party will help Marie Curie Nurses care for more people living with a terminal illness across the UK.

For more information or to get involved contact Joan Rampton on 07891 889202 or e-mail sthleicsfundraisng.mariecurie@gmail.com

Cara Ackerman, a Marie Curie Fund Raising Volunteer said:

“Sadly, it is a question that none of us would like to face, but research has shown that 65% of people who have a terminal illness would prefer to die at home surrounded by their family, friends and in familiar surroundings.

“Marie Curie nurses enable this to happen by offering nursing care to patients but also essential support to the family. Whilst a Marie Curie nurse is present family members are able to rest.

“It is wonderful to be hosting a Blooming Great Tea Party for the local South Leicestershire community and lovely to welcome friends who have been supporting our group over the past few years as well as new faces who are coming along for the first time.

“Great fun is had by all over a cuppa and a slice or two of scrumptious cake!”

People can follow updates on social media and share photos using the hashtag #BloomingGreat.”
