The last official meeting of the group in its current form will take place on Friday 3 June from 2-4pm in the Council Chamber, Desford Road, Narborough, LE19 2EP.
At the meeting, the reigns to the new, independent “ageWise Blaby District” will be handed over to the management committee.
Speakers from the First Contact Plus scheme at Leicestershire County Council and Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland will be at the final meeting, as well as other information stalls.
ageWise Blaby District will continue with the aim of enabling residents of the district to age well.
The group will help members to stay healthy and independent, reduce isolation and loneliness, feel safe at home and in the community, whilst also enhancing self-esteem and happiness.
The new group is open to residents of Blaby District over 18 years of age with an interest in supporting the aims of the group.
Roy Swann, Chair of ageWise Blaby District, said:
“We are so excited to begin the independent group.
“The Council has been fantastic over the years and it has been a valuable forum for so many people.
“The new ageWise Blaby District management committee looks forward to continuing the positive impact the group has had since its beginnings at Blaby District Council.
“We wish to take this new group forward and our aim in the early days is to increase our membership to benefit as many residents in the District of Blaby as we can.”
