Immerse yourself in a day of arts, craft and culture at Countesthorpe Community College this October.
Following on from the successful Arts in the Park at Bouskell Park last year, voluntary group Active Arts has teamed up with Blaby District Council to host a Family Arts Festival, taking place on Saturday 18 October, 10am – 4pm.
In attendance will be the Blaby Drama Group, the Utterly Butterly ukulele project, the Blaby Society of Artists, and the Leicester Forest Photographic Society.
The Blaby Society of Artists will be holding their annual art exhibition and the LFE Photographic Society will have an exhibition and drop-in workshops for people to come with their cameras for advice.
There is also a children’s photography competition open to young people aged up to 19 years of age with prizes. Competition details and how to enter can be found on the Active Arts website, www.activearts.org.uk the closing date is the 10th October 2014.
Ian Paterson, Chairman of Active Arts, said:
“We hope to attract family groups and adults to join in a wide variety of craft and sporting activities, many of which are completely free and run by local community groups for people of all ages.
These sessions will include kurling, skipping, woodlarks and woodland crafts, fun dance workshops, drumming and musical workshops, Xplorer family sessions, Messy Church, make a ukulele, fun family drama workshop, Origami, face painting and balloon modelling, the Morsbag team and The Big Draw – drop-in drawing fun.”
Local performing arts school Theatretrain Leicester are performing a showcase in the College Theatre from 2.30 pm to 3.00 pm.
