The scheme – www.homefinder.uk.com – has over 1,000 properties advertised on the site, from shared houses to executive homes, and 230 lettings agents and landlords signed up.
Residents can access the free service to search for properties, check how much housing benefit they may be entitled to, and find the right support to help them stay in their current home or move to an alternative one.
The website also has a comprehensive advice page with budget calculators, videos and downloadable documents, and residents can register to receive property details emailed directly to them.
Blaby District Council led on the development of the scheme, which had the original aim of increasing access to privately rented properties across Leicester and Leicestershire.
Councillor Maggie Wright, portfolio holder for Community Services at Blaby District Council, said:
“We are thrilled to be a finalist; it really is testament to our hard work and commitment. We are now just keeping our fingers crossed that we are lucky enough to walk away with a winner’s trophy on the night.”
The winners for each category will be announced at a gala dinner – being held at Stoneleigh Park in Coventry during the Landlord and Letting Show, on Wednesday 26th November, 2014.
Jo Ensby, marketing manager for AEP Media who organise the Awards, said:
“The Landlord & Letting Awards are the premier nationwide private rented sector awards in the UK, and it’s great to be able to recognise and reward the best in the industry.
“The Awards receive industry wide support and grow year on year, and it is encouraging to see so many companies and individuals wanting to take part; many even strive throughout the year to further increase their chances of winning. This year’s response was phenomenal, with more entries than ever received across the various categories, so Homefinder has done brilliantly to be shortlisted.”
