Hey, we’re the third best place to live in the U.K. – official!

Posted on March 6, 2017March 6, 2017 by staff

BlabyonmapThe District of Blaby has been named the third best place to live in the UK on a Channel 4 show.

Presented by renowned property expert Sarah Beeny, UK’s Best Place to Live looked at the 50 most desirable places to live in the country, with Blaby District coming third, leading the way across the Midlands region.

With only South Ribble and Warrington ahead, the District of Blaby was ranked the most attractive area of the UK outside of the north.

The show measured latest data from the ONS for 391 local authority areas across the UK.

The study compared nine aspects, all of which were weighted differently for how important they are to people aged 20-29.

Measures included affordable housing, jobs, transport, happiness and wellbeing, and life satisfaction.

Councillor Terry Richardson, Leader of Blaby District Council, said:

“It makes me extremely proud to see our district named as one of the best places to live in the UK. We have worked hard to ensure the district is the best place it can be for people to settle down and enjoy their life in the local area.

“We are fortunate to have major employers; high-profile retails outlets and affordable housing with transport links for residents to take advantage of. This study only goes to emphasise that Blaby District is the Heart of Leicestershire.”

The show is available until 22nd March on Channel 4’s catch up service, All4, at www.channel4.com/programmes/uks-best-place-to-live.
