Free tennis sessions in Stoney Stanton for ‘This Girl Can’ campaign

Posted on April 28, 2015April 28, 2015 by staff

This Girl Can graphicFree tennis sessions are being offered for females aged 11-25 who live within the district of Blaby, as part of the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign from Sport England.

The sessions, funded by Blaby District Council, begin on Wednesday 6 May, and last for six weeks from 4-5pm at Stoney Stanton Tennis Club, Carey Hill Road, LE9 4TD.

The free sessions will offer females of all abilities the chance to enjoy playing tennis in a relaxed and fun surrounding.

This Girl Can is a national campaign developed by Sport England and a wide range of partnership organisations. The campaign celebrates active women up and down the country who are ‘doing their thing’ no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets.

Stoney Stanton Tennis Club coach Pete Law said:

Coach Peter Law hopes sessions will inspire confidence

“I’m really pleased to team up with Blaby District Council and offer these sessions.

We hope that this encourages anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable or confident through fear of judgement to get active with us and, most importantly, to stay active after the sessions have finished.

“You never know, we might find the next tennis superstar!”

Equipment will be provided and discounted club memberships will be available for all those who have taken part in the sessions.
