Free 2012 sports and cultural celebration for all ages and abilities

Blaby District 2012 World Party, Saturday 23rd June 2012, Mill Lane Enderby, Leicestershire. LE19 4LX 12noon – 4.30pm followed by Cultural Music and Arts event at 5.30pm

Community Action Partnership together with local partners are hosting the Blaby District 2012 World Party on Saturday 23rd June 2012 invites you to celebrate 2012 and is shaping up to be a great event. The aim of the event other than for people that come to have a fantastic time, is to encourage attendees take up physical activity to help improve both their the physical and mental health and wellbeing.

The Blaby District 2012 World Party is taking place across many sites on Mill Lane, Enderby, LE19 4LX and will incorporate the recreation ground, bowls club, tennis club, youth centre, golf club, leisure centre and Community Action’s community garden, A Place to Grow.

The event will open its gates from 12 noon and will feature an opening ceremony at 1pm. Children from local schools will be releasing helium balloons to symbolise their Olympic pledges of what they will do to make a positive impact on their lives. This balloon release will then be followed by a performance from the Greenfield Primary School’s Samba band.

From 1pm, there will be an array of sporting and cultural activities for everyone to take part in, despite their age or ability.

The activities include Archery, Equine activity, BMX, Samba , Boxing, Boules, Trampoline, Yoga, Breathing exercises and classes in our relaxation tent, Indian Head Massage, Health Checks, Boogie Bods, Skipping, Street Dance, football, family sports day events, Steel Pan Workshops, Chinese Lion Dance performance, seated exercise, Bollywood dance, self-defence techniques, Dance aerobics, Drumming and Didgeridoo workshops.

Many locally based sports groups are involved on the day, allowing attendees to try something new. The line-up includes Leicester Cobras wheelchair basketball team, Enderby dodge ball team and the Huncote Hornet BMX team to list just a few.

The afternoons activities end at 4.30pm where we will then lead into the Cultural Music and Arts event at 5.30pm

This exciting event of music and dance takes place at our award winning community garden, A Place to Grow, Mill Lane, Enderby.

Featuring a specially designed show from Nupur Arts Dance Academy, world singing from Musical Village, Great British Anthems played by Enderby Brass Band and a special performance from the A Place to Grow Steel Pan Band.

Following the success of our 2010 Music in the Garden event, this promises to be the showcase event of the day, where people are encouraged to relax, enjoy the garden and be entertained by a range of artists.

This doors will open at 5pm and will finish by 7.30pm.

Tickets for the event are £8 for Adults and £5 for children aged 12 and under. Ticket prices include food for the evening. Soft drinks will be available to purchase. Alcohol will not be being served, although ticket holders are welcome to bring a their own bottle of wine if they wish.
