New play equipment at Fosse Meadows has been met with approval by a class of primary school children.

The new slide, carousel and zip line at the popular Sharnford site was installed by Blaby District Council, majority owners of the meadows.

Children from Sharnford Primary School were asked what type of equipment they preferred, with a zip line by far the most popular choice.

As a thank you for their help the class were invited to play with the new equipment before the end of the school term.

Chairman of the District Council, Marian Broomhead and Councillor Sheila Scott joined in with the children in having a go on the zip wire.

Councillor Scott, Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure Services said:

“It is a pleasure to have this 142 acre site within both my ward and my portfolio. This site is available to dog walkers, horse riders and walkers, as well as being a lovely day out for families.

“I am delighted to see how much enjoyment the children got from using the new equipment in the meadows’ play area. This helps Fosse Meadows reputation for being fun for all the family throughout the year and is free to everyone.”

Fosse Meadows is a 142 acre site in Sharnford with extensive paths through flower meadows and newly planted woodlands.

The site also includes places for bird watching, a permissive bridleway and a permanent orienteering course.

There is a car park, picnic area and two wheelchair friendly gates.
