Football walks into Whetstone

Posted on September 3, 2015 by staff

Walking FootballIt was made famous in a television advert and now the opportunity to play Walking Football has finally come back to the area.

In partnership with Leicestershire and Rutland County FA, Blaby District Council is launching the fast-growing sport here in our area, starting on Wednesday 16 September, between 2-3pm at Holmes Park, Dog and Gun Lane, in nearby Whetstone (LE8 6FA.)

Walking football is almost exactly the same as football, with one key difference; if a player runs they concede a free kick to the other side.

The game aims to promote fitness and place less stress on the body whilst playing.

Sessions are a great way to keep active and it’s open to everyone.

The first session is free, with further sessions costing just £2.

For more information or to book a place, contact Fay Longdon at Leicestershire FA on fay.longdon@leicestershirefa.com.
