Event to celebrate lottery anniversary

Posted on January 15, 2020January 15, 2020 by staff

Supporting good causes from across the district and raising £54,000, the Love Blaby Lottery has been a huge success since its launch two years ago.

Blaby District Council set up the weekly online community lottery to raise money for the local good causes who join. 60p from each £1 ticket goes directly to good causes and players can choose which organisation to support.

The second anniversary draw takes place on Saturday 22 February. To mark the celebration, local community groups, charities and sports clubs are invited to attend a special event at Blaby District Council’s offices on Wednesday 29 January from 4:30-6pm to find out more about signing up to raise vital funds.

Eligible good causes registering in time for the 22 February draw will be entered into a special draw to win a top prize of £100 for their organisation.

Since launching in 2018, Blaby Lottery has seen more than 1,800 lucky winners, with the £54,000 raised going towards community libraries, scouts and guides, community transport providers, community groups and sports clubs.

ADHD Solutions, which supports children, young people and adults affected by ADHD joined the lottery and have successfully raised £2600 since launch. Christine Jarvis, ADHD Solution’s Founder and Director, said: “We were able to set up the Blaby support group for residents in the District of Blaby as a direct result of Love Blaby Lottery funding, which has helped to pay for a venue.

“Income from the lottery helps to fund all activities we do with the children/young people and families from the Blaby area and has meant that there is more local support available.”

Cllr. Coe

Councillor Sharon Coe, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Regulatory Services, said: “We are exceptionally proud of how much our lottery has raised for good causes in two years. This has helped organisations run projects and supplements our popular Community Grants scheme, which also supports vital local community groups across the whole of the district, and who make such a positive difference to the district.”

500 FREE entries into the Love Blaby Lottery are also available, so give the game a go between now and 29 February (until stocks last). For full details of the anniversary event, eligibility and promotions visit the Blaby Lottery webpage.

Love Blaby Lottery players must be aged 16 plus and resident in the UK. Please gamble responsibly.
