Event round-up by Community Action Partnership

The Community Action Partnership have a series of events listed for December. The list (reproduced below) can be viewed on the partnership’s website www.vabd.org.uk

1 December – LFE Film Evenings will be showing: Another Year. A brilliant film from director Mike Leigh, which traces a year of changes in the life of a close-knit family and their relationship with colleagues and friends. Starring: Jim Broadbent, Lesley Manville, Imelda Staunton, Ruth Sheen, David Bradley. Venue is the Parish Hall, Kings Drive, LFE. Doors open at 7.00pm when a hot drink and biscuits will be provided. The film starts at 7.30pm. The inclusive cost is £5.

2 December – Active Arts are running an all-day coach trip to the spectacular Thursford Christmas Entertainment in Norfolk. The cost of £43 includes travel and excellent tickets – phone Patersons on 0116 2776257 to see if there are seats still left and for more details.

2 December – Christmas Fayre at Brockington College, Blaby Road, Enderby. between 4pm and 7 pm. Admission costs 50 p and we look forward to drawing our very popular Christmas raffle.

3 December – Sharnford Evergreen Hall – Christmas Bazaar – 2 pm – Father Christmas, Cakes, Preserves and Chutneys, Christmas Gifts etc.

3 December – Vista’s Kathleen Rutland Home, 117 Hinckley Road, Leicester Forest East, Leicester LE3 3PF are holding a Christmas Fayre from 10am-12 noon with Festive Stalls, Refreshments, Christmas Carols, Bernese Mountain Dogs and Santa Claus. 3 December – Christmas Fair 11am till 3 pm at Leicester Forest East Parish Hall bottom of Kings Drive raising money for 2nd LFE Brownies and 4th LFE guides if you want any further information about a stall on the day please contact rachealbarwell@yahoo.co.uk

3 December – Cosby Village Hall Quiz – 7pm until 11pm. Bar .Games and Prizes. Tickets on the door. Come along and have fun.

3/4 December – Christmas Tree Festival St Crispin’s Church, Edward Avenue/Turnnbull Drive, Braunstone Town Saturday 10.00 – 5pm Sunday 12.00 – 4pm. We are looking for groups or individuals to decorate a Tree, if you are interested, please contact 2896451

8 December – Alzheimer’s Café at the Pavilion, Huncote. 10am to 11-30am. Cost of tea and a bacon buttie £1. For carers of all people with any memory problems, their loved ones and families. For further details contact: Laurie Woodruff from Alzheimer’s Society 0116 2311114

9 December – At Countesthorpe Village Hall, Active Arts Present ‘The Spirit of Christmas Past’, medieval music and song with The Fleur de Lys. Tickets £8, £6 concessions, from Glebe Garden Centre on 01162771570 or Patersons on 0116 2776259

10/11 December – Foston Church Christmas Tree Festival -just east of Countesthorpe this lovely church will be full of decorated trees, with refreshments also available. Church open each day 12 noon to 5.30 p.m. -on Saturday members of Wigston Band will perform between 2 and 3 ,and on Sunday Countesthorpe U3A handbell ringers will play at 2.15 and 3 o’clock.

11 December – Xmas Concert at Glen Parva War Memorial Hall, Dorothy Avenue. 3.30 pm Tickets £2.50, including mulled wine on arrival from 0116 2771450 Refreshments and raffle available. Entertainment provided by Glen Hills Primary School Children, Dolce Tuba Quartet and Lancaster Community Choir. Visit from Father Christmas. Donation to Wishes4kids and Coping with cancer will be made from this event.

11 December – Huncote Methodist Church Gift Service. 10am Donations of money and gifts are welcomed by the Salvation Army. Tel 0116 2841256 for details email: bownjenny@aol.co.uk

11 December – Youth Lead Service at Enderby Parish Church at 5pm. All ages welcome. Drama, worship and talk lead by our CYFA young people aged between 15 and 18yrs. Cake and refreshments served afterwards. For more information contact Mike (youth worker) 07792 750894 / 0116 2864490

13 December – Tuesday Teapot Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Parish Hall, Kings Drive, Leicester Forest East between 2pm and 4pm. All welcome to come along for a cup of tea/piece of cake and a chat. For further information telephone Sue Jones on 0116 2299277.

13 December – Christmas Social The December 2011 meeting of Cosby Heritage Society will be held at Cosby Community Church Schoolroom, at 7.30 pm, which will be our Christmas Social. The format will be a buffet with a quiz. Food, tea and coffee will be provided but please bring your other drinks (wine etc.) and glasses. The cost will be £5.00 per person and you need to reserve a place by Tuesday 6th December 2011. 14 December – Beer and Carols at The New Inn, Enderby at 8pm. Aim; drink beer sing Carols and rejoice in the Good News of Jesus Christ. For more information contact Crystal 07890 020012.

24 December – Christmas Carol Service 5-30pm Huncote Methodist Church, Forest Road. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate Christmas at this special family time.

25 December – Christmas Morning Service 10am Huncote Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in with a short service to celebrate the Birth of Christ (Tradition is to bring an unopened present to open with everyone together.)

27 December – Family Pantomime in association with Dream Team Productions – Jack & The Beanstalk 1.30 pm at Glen Parva War Memorial Hall, Dorothy Avenue.
