Enderby - Le Haillan Town Twinning - Pork Pie

The November meeting of the Enderby Twinning Association was well attended with particular interest focused on the arrangements for our next visit to Le Haillan over Easter 2012.

It is the 25th anniversary of the signng of the Twinning Charter and a sub committee has ben set up  to recommend an appropriate gift to mark the occasion.

The Chairman, Barbara Spence,  reported on the plans to encourage more families into the association and strengthen links with the local schools. She thanked the organiser of the recent meal at Le Bistrot Pierre in Leicester in which 21 people participated and Peter and Christine Hurst for their Summer Cream Tea Social.

We have a varied programme of social events coming up including a ‘Beer & Skittles Night’ at the New Inn, Enderby; Christmas drinks; a repeat of last year’s very successful ‘Snowdrop Walk’; another French restaurant meal and the Annual Quiz on Saturday 4th February 2012.

We are pleased to announce that we have joined the 21st century with a facebook page. You can view it by clicking here .

If you are interested in joining the Twinning Association, to entertain and visit French people and learn about their culture, why not come along to a meeting or social event to see if it is for you?

We visit France every two years, receiving the French into our homes and arranging an interesting programme ofevents fir them in the other year.

Anyone wishing to join the Association will be made very welcome.

You don’t have to speak French (though it helps!); having an open mind and willing to try new things is more important.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 19th January 2012 at 8pm at Enderby Civic Centre.

Please ring 0116 2848514 or 01455 209021 or email barbaraspence19@googlemail.com for a leaflet and further details or to arrange to meet the members.
