Enderby EYE has learned that the Enderby Post Office located in the Co-operative store at 19 Cross Street is to be upgraded and refurbished.
The existing branch is to become a new ‘main style’ branch under a three year investment and support programme, the largest in the history of the post office, which will see around 6,000 branches (about half the Post Office network) converting to new style branches.
The aim of the programme is to create a more modern and convenient retail experience for Post Office customers. This means longer opening hours and, significantly, the processing of car tax.
Post Office Services will also be available at a ‘retail counter’ during Shop opening hours (ie Mon-Sat 7am-10pm, Sun 10am-4pm).
The Post Office ‘Saturday’ hours are extending from the current 9am-12.30pm to 9am-5.30pm serving customers on a Saturday afternoon.
There will be three serving positions. These will be a mixture of two screened and a Post Office serving point for use at the retail counter, which is available during Shop opening hours.
There is also to be a low level serving counter and a hearing loop.
The existing branch will close for refurbishment at 17:30 on Tuesday 19 November 2013 and re-open at 13:00 on Wednesday 20 November 2013
During the work other Post Office branches are available at Whetstone and Blaby.
