Enderby Old Folks Entertainment Fund winds up

Posted on April 4, 2012 by staff

In the Autumn of 2010 it was announced that the Enderby Old Folks Entertainment Fund would be wound up, due to the organisers advancing years and the lack of younger volunteers available to take over the committee roles. The organisers terminated its activities at the end of 2010.

The groups constitution specified that all closing funds should be donated to LOROS, the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice.

The end of an era during which the group had provided support to the widows, war veterans and senior citizens living in Enderby since 1945 was marked by Chairman Frank Humphrey and Hon. Treasurer Ken Thomas recntly visiting the hospice to hand over a cheque for £4356.62 which represented the group’s closing balance. LOROS senior fundraiser Adrian Walker received the cheque and expressed his thanks and appreciation for the donation.
