Enderby missionary Alice Young is awarded ‘Green Plaque’

alice_young-1Towards the end of 2013, Leicestershire County Council launched a Green Plaque Awards Scheme in Leicestershire to recognise and celebrate the county’s rich cultural and historic heritage.

The countywide Green Plaque Awards scheme invited local residents to nominate and vote for people, places and events they thought worthy of commemoration.

The winners of the six Green Plaques have now been announced and Enderby’s Alice Young, a missionary to Africa, nominated by Enderby Parish Council, supported by Enderby EYE,  has been awarded a green plaque.

The Plaque will be erected at the old family home in Enderby.
