Posted on May 2, 2014May 2, 2014 by staff

alice_young-1Towards the end of 2013, Leicestershire County Council launched a Green Plaque Awards Scheme in Leicestershire to recognise and celebrate the county’s rich cultural and historic heritage.

The countywide Green Plaque Awards scheme invited local residents to nominate and vote for people, places and events they thought worthy of commemoration.

The winners of the six Green Plaques have recently been announced and Enderby’s Alice Young, a missionary to Africa, has been awarded a green plaque.

Enderby Parish Council organised the nomination which was supported by Enderby EYE,.

The plaque will be erected at the old family home in Enderby.
