Enderby Lawn Tennis Club have raised £203 for Rainbows charity with a novel idea.

The fundraising method involved not sending Christmas cards to friends and instead donating the money that would otherwise be spent on cards into the children’s charity instead.

Club Press Officer Liz Ardern told Enderby EYE  “It seemed to work well and we were very pleased with the outcome.

“We invited a representative from Rainbows, Mrs Julie Feecham to come along to our club and be presented with the cheque.

“She was delighted and after the presentation by club Chairman Mr Steve Ince and the organiser of the collection Mrs Chris Kingsley-Mills, Mrs. Feecham explained all about the work of Rainbows Hospice.”

Club members report that they found the presentation and talk a very interesting and somewhat moving occasion.
