Enderby Fete

By contrast with the last Fete seven years ago, the weather held out and the sun shone down on the 2018 Enderby Fete which took place on Saturday, September 1st.

An  estimated 2000 people looked in on the event which ran between 12 noon and 4pm.

A variety of stalls featuring crafts, demonstrations, competitions and information were joined by food and drink vendors, including ice cream, specialised coffees and even ‘Real Ale’.

Children’s entertainment took the form of fairground rides, trampolines, a giant inflatable slide, face painting and a hoopla stall. The very popular ‘ Little Red Bus’ trundled around the field throughout the event.

The field contained two arenas. Arena one was the location for sessions of the novel “Bubble Football” activity,  performances by Enderby Junior and Enderby Concert Brass Bands and the entertainment culminated with an extremely popular ‘Tug-o-War’ competition between competing teams from local hostelries.

Tuggers from the ‘Cask and Coffee’ micro-pub on Mill Hill were the winners (dare we say against strong competition?).

Some classic car owners kindly brought their vehicles, which provided interest for all  family members. Some lucky fete-goers were able to take a ride in them around the main arena.

Throughout the afternoon, in arena number two, competitors took part in a dog show featuring categories of cutest puppy, prettiest bitch, handsomest dog, best veteran, best young handler and last but not least, best sausage catcher! Rosettes were awarded to the winners.
