The girls’ team of Enderby Junior Dodgeball Club has received a brand new kit, worth £750, from the GFORCE Grassroots Campaign which aims to provide financial support to help sports teams and clubs from across the Midlands achieve their aspirations.
The Club, which was founded in 2014, has grown in popularity recently with more than 90 members aged from 4 to 17 years of age and also includes the UK’s first junior girls’ team, The White Tigers. And to encourage the growth of the girls’ team, the club applied to the Grassroots Campaign for funding so it could get a specialised kit to give The White Tigers an identity of their own.
Mark Yates, chairperson of Enderby Junior Dodgeball Club, said:
“Our whole club has enjoyed some great success of late particularly at U16 and U13 level but we are expecting great things from our U11s and The White Tigers moving forward, too.
“We are so pleased to receive the tops and shorts for our girls’ team because it means they can develop their own look and style. Katie, The White Tigers coach, led the design process of the kit and consulted with the girl’s squad who wanted something that would stand out when playing on the court and depict The White Tigers theme, which they also chose.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to GFORCE for giving our girls’ team this fantastic opportunity. As the first Girls Junior Dodgeball team in the UK it gives the team a cutting edge when on court. The support we have received from the Grassroots campaign has helped to increase the enjoyment that the girls have for dodgeball and their team and enhances our commitment to grow this area of the sport.”
GFORCE Sportswear, launched the Grassroots campaign in 2016 to reinforce its engagement to grassroots sport by setting aside a £5,000 pot of money which organisations across the East Midlands could apply to for grants, with a maximum value of up to £750 per team or club. Following an incredibly successful first year, the campaign was opened up to the entire Midlands area for 2017.
Simon Ward, sales director at GFORCE Sportswear, said
“The GFORCE Grassroots campaign exists to reward the dedication, passion and success of sports teams and clubs from across the Midlands and it reinforces our commitment to grassroots sport.
“It is clear to see that Enderby Junior Dodgeball Club epitomises everything that is great about Grassroots sport. It does such a lot for its local community and works so hard to grow the sport of Dodegball whilst encouraging as many girls as possible to take part. It’s fantastic to see the hard work and commitment from the coaches and committee members, and all the young people who are taking part in the teams, really paying off.
“We are delighted to have been able to make this donation to the White Tigers and wish them all the best in the future.”
