Enderby Community Library to hold ‘Drop-in Events’ early in the New Year

Posted on November 24, 2015November 24, 2015 by staff

Enderby LibraryEnderby Library Management Committee (ELMC) have written to say ‘thank you’ to all who expressed interest in volunteering to help run the Enderby Community Library.

The letter invites them to attend at one or both of two ‘Drop-in Events’ which will be held at Enderby Library, Townsend Road, Enderby on Tuesday, 12th January 2016 – 12 Noon until 3pm and Tuesday, 19th January 2016 – 4pm until 7pm

The events have been organised following acceptance by Leicestershire County Council of the ELMC’s Outline Business Plan.

Under the auspices of Enderby Parish Council, the ELMC was formed earlier this year from a number of Parish Councillors and enthusiastic members of the community with a wealth of experience between them.

At a meeting of the ELMC on September 3rd, Mrs. Maria Hetherington of Coleridge Drive, Enderby, was appointed Volunteer Co-ordinator.

It will be Mrs. Hetherington’s role as Volunteer Co-ordinator, to support the volunteers in whatever role they are interested in.

By volunteering to assist with running  Enderby Community Library, volunteers can develop skills, meet new people and contribute to the wealth of the local community.

Volunteer roles are flexible, and volunteers can help out as much or as little as they like, in one, or a variety of roles.

The vision is not only to continue to provide the existing Library service but also expand the offering over time and create a Community Hub where local people can avail themselves of a range of resources.

ELMC members will be on hand at the drop-in events to discuss how people can help Enderby Community Library to become a success story.

Everyone is invited to attend either of the drop-in events, including anyone who has, so far, not formally registered their interest.

The ELMC say:

“Anyone who is unable to attend either of the drop-in events, should feel free to telephone 0116 2753711 to arrange an informal chat with the Volunteer Co-ordinator.

Anyone wishing to take part in this exciting project will be joining an open, friendly and supportive team.”
