On Friday 2nd December, Enderby village centre was packed with residents braving the chill night air as the Parish Council hosted the 2022 Christmas Tree Light Up event.
Proceedings began at 4.30pm when the village centre was closed to traffic and people mingled on Mill Lane and Townsend Road.
Billy Bates & Sons Leisure provided fairground rides for children, fun house and hook a duck located on Mill Lane.
Visitors were able to browse a selection of gifts sold at the variety of market stalls on Townsend Road and at the Civic Centre.
The evening saw entertainment from amongst performances of Salsa with Jenny, Musical Village choir and Enderby Band, along with a free hot drink and a mince pie per person.
Children were able to visit Santa for free with each child receiving a small gift.
Raffle tickets were on sale on the night for a chance to win one of many prizes donated by generous businesses.
The event culminated with the Christmas Tree lights being switched on at 7:00pm.
Initial feedback was very positive. Two subscribers to All Things Enderby posted:
“Thank you so much to the Parish Council for this evening. It was just so lovely to see so many of the village out, I got to meet some old faces and some new ones and it was just lovely. Thank you too, to everyone who came and supported my son on his stall he is so happy this evening. It was lovely to see so much community spirit! Happy Christmas Enderby” Hannah Gill
“Would just like to say a big thank you to the Parish Council for making this evening so lovely for the Christmas light switch on. It was all perfectly spaced out, room to walk and there was just enough rides from Billy Bates! Look forward to each year as it gets bigger and better. Thank you for all your hard work in bringing it all together” Martina Naughton.
