Enderby based performing arts group to hold show for children’s charity

theatretrainTheatretrain, which gives part-time training in drama, dance and singing to six to 18 year olds, are due to perform a show at Leicester’s Grand Hotel on Saturday, July 12th.

Youngsters frim the group will perform a selection of material from musicals and films.

Proceeds from the event will go to Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre in Mablethorpe.

Simon Toole, of Theatretrain Leicester, told the Leicester Mercury:

“All our pupils have been working incredibly hard, rehearsing numbers such as Razzle Dazzle, Diamonds Are Forever, Greased Lightning and You Can’t Stop The Beat.

“We’re all so pleased to be supporting such a fantastic, local charity and, as you can imagine, the children are tremendously excited.”

Simon has been involved with Theatretrain since 1999.

Starting as a student at Theatretrain Chelmsford, he then moved to the East Midlands and taught dance and drama at Theatretrain Nottingham. Simon opened Theatretrain Leicester in January 2010.

Since graduating from De Montfort University with a BA (Hons) in Theatre, Simon has worked with young people in a variety of settings. He has been part of a number of theatre companies, leading drama workshops in both primary and secondary schools.

Simon also worked at a Further Education college in Leicester, teaching on the HND Performing Arts course and Level 2 Key Skills.

He then became the lead administrator for a Performing Arts project based in Leicester City Centre, which included organising Leicestershire’s first Youth Dance Platform as part of a Youth Dance England initiative.

Simon now works as a Primary School Teacher. He is very passionate about education, especially the education, training and experience that Theatretrain provides for young people.
