Enderby Band: another year of success at the Midlands Beer & Brass on the Grass contest

Posted on May 31, 2019 by staff

It was another successful year at The Midlands Beer & Brass on the Grass Contest with both Enderby Junior and Concert Band picking up awards.

The Junior Band played some challenging pieces with a number of players only joining the band in October 2018 and few joining at the start of the year.

The Junior band finished 3rd with a large number of positive comments from adjudicators and audience members alike.

Sam McClumpha (Musical Director) expressed how proud she was of the children, not only with their playing but also their attitude and perseverance.

It was a fantastic experience for all the children involved and their parents.

Enderby Concert Band once again came out on top, coming 1st in the unregistered section – Another year and another trophy for the band.

The Musical Director, Stewart Osgood commented on how fantastic the players were on the day and how well they all work together while enjoying their practices.

And it didn’t end there. The award for the Best Soloist Bass Player was awarded to – Sam McClumpha (Enderby Concert Band) and The Young Player Award was awarded to – Kelsie McClumpha (Enderby Junior Band)
