Builders’ merchant EH Smith held a fundraising day at its Enderby, Leicester branch recently encouraging local builders, plumbers, decorators and other trades to raise money to help make the dreams of some of Leicestershire’s most poorly children come true.

The event, in aid of Regent Road, Leicester-based charity Wishes 4 Kids, raised more than £700 in just one day.

During the day, customers at EH Smith competed for a golf day at Forest of Arden club, a range of tech gadgets and games such as an iPad and Football Table, and Amazon Kindle Fire, shopping vouchers, steel-capped safety boots, Porotherm Tool Kit and even a silent auction for £1,000.00 patio kit.

Wishes 4 Kids was created to grant a wish for children and youngsters in Leicestershire who are life limited, terminally ill, have experienced life-changing physical or emotional traumas, have suffered major abuse or are diagnosed as HIV positive.

EH Smith’s Darren Moore, who organised the day along with colleague Lea Bodycott, said:

“The day was fantastic. We had a lot of support from some of our key suppliers providing us with an array of brilliant raffle prizes. All members of staff got involved too and worked together to make the day a huge success and lots of fun.

“I know how hard Wishes4Kids work to support families with sick children and I was overwhelmed by the generosity and support of our suppliers and our customers from the Leicestershire building community. All in all, it was a great day and with a fantastic amount raised for a very worthwhile cause!”

 Charity founder Russell Brickett added:

“On the half of the charity I would like to thank EH Smith, its suppliers and customers, for supporting Wishes 4 Kids with their fundraising event.

We rely solely on the public for donations to grant wishes for poorly Leicestershire children and we are grateful to EH Smith and thank them in advance, on behalf of the children whose wishes we will be able to grant as a result of their kindness.”
