Driver dies in Blaby car accident

Officers from the Force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the report of a fatal collision in Blaby on Thursday 3rd November.

The incident happened at about 8.45am in Hospital Lane, near to the junction with Leicester Road.

The collision involved three cars, an orange Suzuki Swift SZ3, a silver Volkswagen Passat Sport and a silver Volkswagen Golf.

The driver of the Suzuki, 71-year-old Mr Ronald Petherick from Dunton Bassett, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary following the collision, where he was later pronounced dead.

The occupants of the two other vehicles were uninjured.

Detective Constable David Sharpe, the investigating officer, said:

“The Suzuki was travelling towards Blaby and the Passat and Golf were travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened.

“I am appealing for anyone with information about the collision or anyone who saw the cars prior to the incident to call us,”
