From 1 April 2014 there is a change to the way Council Tax discount for empty properties is calculated.

If the property has been unoccupied for more than a month, the owner will be subject to a full Council Tax bill.

Property owners should contact the Council to provide details if any of the following situations now apply:

  • they no longer own the property,  or
  • someone now lives in the property

For more information visit the District Council website’s Discounts and Exemptions page, or email revenues@blaby.gov.uk or call 0116 272 7530.
