Council service shop open until 7pm on Thursdays

Posted on April 25, 2012 by staff

Blaby District Council’s Joint Service Shop is now open on Thursday evenings until 7pm, giving people more access to a range of services.

The shop on Forge Corner, Blaby – which has recently been refurbished – is offering housing, council tax and benefits advice during the evening sessions, which are open for people to drop-in or by appointment.

The extended opening hours are being trialled for three months.

Community safety and resident support officers will also be available at the shop on Thursdays evenings by appointment only to offer support on a range of issues including domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour, crime prevention and drug and alcohol abuse.

Councillor David Clements, corporate services portfolio holder said:

“Given the current economic climate many residents are looking for help and advice on lots of different issues and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to access our services.”
