Parking charges in Blaby town centre are changing from April 2.
Shoppers using the short-stay car park at Enderby Road and Johns Court will pay 20p for up to three hours parking instead of 10p while people using the long-stay car park at Wigston Road will be offered all-day parking for £1 instead of £2.
The Council has brought in these changes to encourage people working in the town to use Wigston Road car park which will leave more short-stay spaces for shoppers.
Charges at all other car parks across Blaby district stay the same.
Councillor Guy Jackson, portfolio holder for regulatory and neighbourhood services said: “We have listened to businesses, people living in the area and shoppers to come up with a balanced set of charges that offer excellent value for money to staff and customers in the town centre.
“Blaby is a popular destination and we want to continue to attract visitors to the town by offering quality facilities at very reasonable rates.”
People using the Enderby Road and Johns Court car park regularly can buy a season ticket for £17.50 a year allowing them to park for a maximum of three hours daily.
Season tickets for the car park on Wigston Road are available for £100.
