Car parking changes approved

Posted on October 27, 2020October 27, 2020 by staff

Free parking for the first two hours across car parks in Blaby and Narborough have been approved by Blaby District Council.

From Monday 02 November, Enderby Road and Johns Court car parks in Blaby, as well as Leicester Road car park in Narborough will be free for the first two hours.

To reduce queues and reduce the amount of contact with parking machines, no tickets will be needed for the free parking period.

Parking up to three hours will be 50p, £1.50 is charged for four hours, with £5 for over four hours. Tickets must be displayed for staying in car parks for these durations unless paying with the app-based PaybyPhone.

This new method of paying is currently in operation in Narborough Railway Station and Weavers Court car parks, but has been rolled out to the Blaby car parks, and Leicester Road in Narborough from 02 November. Payment can be made over the phone with no need to use a ticket machine, or display a ticket in their car.

Cllr. Sharon Coe

Councillor Sharon Coe, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Regulatory Services, said: “Car parks in Blaby have been free throughout the pandemic as part of our ongoing work with town centre businesses to support their recovery during this time.

“We have said throughout that whilst on-street bays are closed to aide social distancing in Blaby Town Centre we would keep car parks free. This ensures our long-term commitment to this pledge.”

More information on parking charges and using PaybyPhone can be found on the webpage.
