Callous thieves target children’s play equipment in Braunstone Town play areas

Play equipment compositePlay equipment worth thousands of pounds has been stolen from two parks in Braunstone Town over one weekend in June.

The play area in Mossdale Meadows, Kingsway and Franklin Park, Welcome Avenue were targeted by thieves between Saturday 13 June and Monday 15 June.

Swings and a slide were stolen from Mossdale Meadows and a slide was stolen from Franklin Park.

Anyone knowing anything about these incidents or witnessed anything that may relate to the thefts, local police need to speak to you.

Local beat officer, PC 4451 Sonja Freeston, said:

“This was a callous crime which has left many children without play equipment, these types of crimes have a knock on effect on the local community and we need to find the people responsible.”

Leader of Braunstone Town Council, Councillor Nick Brown, said:

“This was a thoughtless and selfish act, which not only deprived families and children of valued and well-used community play equipment but also put the safety of young children at risk. I urge anyone who knows or saw anything, which may help in identifying the culprits, even if it at first appeared to be normal, to contact the police”.
