Boxer clocks up the miles for cancer appeal

Posted on August 30, 2012October 28, 2012 by staff

Midlands heavy weight boxing champion Scott King, from Blaby, has invited his local community to join him on his 3 ½ mile training route to raise money for the Our Space Appeal at Leicester’s Hospitals.

Scott is holding a fundraising day at the Bakers Arms in Blaby on Sunday 28th October where participants can join in a relay of his training route which starts and finishes at the Bakers.

Scott said:

“Everyone is invited and can participate, young, old, runners, walkers – anyone can take part to help raise these vital funds to help our youngsters who have cancer. Please come along and join in the fun on the day.”

Scott is training to defend his title in a fight with Lenny Buttling scheduled for 8th September at Liquid Envy in Leicester.

He will be visiting the young cancer patients at the Royal Infirmary on Friday (31st) at 12 noon who are in temporary accommodation whilst the building work takes place for this brand new dedicated cancer centre.

There is still £150,000 to raise to hit the £1.4million Our Space Appeal target. The ward will include an upgraded area for children aged 0-13 years, a teenage cancer trust unit for young people aged between 13-24 years and a joint treatment area.

To register for the event and receive sponsor forms please contact Debbie Adlerstein on 0116 258 8531/07921 545484.
