Boost for economy in Blaby District wins support

Grove Park Tower SculptureMeasures to drive economic growth and help local businesses to thrive over the next three years have gained a vote of confidence from Blaby District Council Cabinet Executive.

“Opportunity Blaby” – The Economic Development Strategy developed by Blaby District Council includes a host of actions to boost the local economy.

Measures include providing support for businesses, attracting investment, improving skills and training opportunities, as well as improving infrastructure for major development sites.

Councillor Tony Greenwood MBE, Planning, Economic Development and Housing Strategy portfolio holder said:

“These are certainly exciting times for us with major developments now starting to take shape in the district.

“To make the most of these opportunities this plan of action will work to guide us forward and help maximise benefit for local people and businesses. Influencing job growth, and promoting and helping to deliver skills support programmes can bring real advantage and value to our communities.”

A report will be taken to the next full council meeting of Blaby District Council on Thursday 20 February with a recommendation to adopt the strategy.
