BMW driver dies after collision with fire engine on Lubbesthorpe Way

police accident signA man has died after the car he was driving was involved in a collision on the A563 Lubbesthorpe Way.

It happened at 5am on Sunday 22nd October on the southbound carriageway and involved two vehicles, a silver BMW and a fire engine.

The driver of the BMW, James Sarson, of Attleborough, Nuneaton, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he was pronounced deceased shortly afterwards.

His 26-year-old passenger was taken to the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment to injuries which are considered to be non-life threatening.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The A563 was closed in both directions to allow for an investigation of the scene.

A diversion remained in place from the McDonald’s roundabout to Everards roundabout until lifted at 12.40pm.

Leicestershire Police would like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and saw the collision itself or either of the vehicles being driven beforehand.

If anyone has information to assist with police enquiries and have not yet been spoken to, the police would like to hear from you.
