Blaby man convicted of sexual assault

police carA Blaby man has been convicted for sexual assault following an appeal on Facebook.

On Monday January 28 Thomas White (29) of Dorchester Close, Blaby appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a female.

He was given a community order with conditions to:

* receive treatment for alcohol dependency for 6 months,
* be the subject of a curfew order for 2 months and to be electronically monitored to ensure compliance with the curfew requirement,
* attend appointments with the Probation Service for two years at specific times and places.

He was also ordered to pay £200 cost to the Crown Prosecution Service and register with the police for five years.

The conviction relates to an incident at a store on Saffron Lane on Tuesday August 14, 2012 when White touched a 17-year-old girl inappropriately.

Following the incident a CCTV image and appeal was issued on the Force website and Facebook and White was identified and subsequently charged.
