Blaby District Youth Council seeks to recruit new members at July recruitment event

Blaby District Youth CouncilA recruitment evening is being hosted for young people aged 11-19 to have their voices heard and to get involved with local democracy.

Blaby District Youth Council, which has been running since 2003, is holding its recruitment event at the Council Chamber on Thursday 2 July from 4-6pm, Desford Road, Narborough, LE19 2EP.

The interactive evening will give anyone interested in joining a chance to find out what it’s all about.

The Youth Council offers many unique opportunities to members, who will get the opportunity to work with current councillors, organise events and help to improve their communities by awarding grants to local youth projects.

Councillor David Freer, Portfolio Holder for Partnerships and Corporate Services said:

“The Youth Council is important because it gives young people a chance to make a positive contribution to this council.

“Young people can get involved in decision making on matters that affect them and it provides a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills, knowledge and confidence, all while having some fun along the way!”
