Posted on August 17, 2011November 27, 2011 by staff

The next Blaby District Older Peoples’ Forum shall be meeting on Monday 5th September, 2-4pm at the Council Chamber, Desford Road Narborough.

This quarter features a guest speaker from the Cinnamon Trust; an organisation providing a free service working for elderly people and their pets, where volunteers care for the pet while the owner is ill or in hospital.

This talk will be accompanied my a 35 minute video which further demonstrates their work.

There will also be more information about Older Person’s Month and the activities available to residents across Blaby District.

The purpose of this forum is to bring together older people to express their views on issues relating to their health and well being and the range of services available to them and meets four times a year for the following

  • ·         To seek advice and give information on all issues affecting older people.
  • ·         To identify priority areas and how this affects their daily lives.
  • ·         To advocate inclusion of older people into the community
  • ·         To share knowledge and promote learning and involvement.

The Blaby District Older Person’s Forum are currently seeking new members from across the district who feel they would like to represent their neighbourhood, to be a voice and raise concerns for older residents. You need not have any previous experience, just to be keen to represent your neighbours. If you would like to join the forum, please come along to the next meeting to find out more, or call Darren Walker at Community Action Blaby District on 0116 272 7669
