Signing the declaration: (l-r) David Atterbury, Sandra Whiles, Cllr. Ernie White, Lt.Col. David Dawber.

The Armed Forces Community Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support between a civilian community and its local Armed Forces community.

Its purpose is to encourage support for the Armed Forces community working and residing in Blaby District and to recognise and remember the sacrifices made by its members.

For Blaby District Council and partner organisations, the covenant is an opportunity for them to use their knowledge and expertise to help with the provision of support to members of the Armed Forces community.

Whereas for the Armed Forces, the covenant encourages the integration of service life into civilian life and encourages members to help in their local community.

Leader Ernie White said:

“This covenant builds on the strong connections already demonstrated between Blaby District and the Armed Forces community through ongoing initiatives such as the partnership at the Argents Mead Memorial and the continuing work with the veteran community.”
