The Pavilion at Huncote hosted its 2nd Badminton Tournament on 20th June with more than 40 players from across the district of Blaby entering the men’s and ladies doubles matches.
The event was organised by the Active Together Project and Blaby District Council to encourage people to increase the amount of physical activity that adults do.
The tournament was very competitive with some very close matches in the group stages. The winners of the Men’s doubles were Hitu Keval and Umang Desi with the runners up Chris Paulley and Dharmesh Soni. The winners of the Ladies doubles were Joy Smith and Carmen Yip with the runners up Kerry Marriott and Shona Davidson.
Alex Brown, Physical Activity Development Officer at Blaby District Council said “The tournament was a huge success with a fun and friendly atmosphere and some competitive matches. It was a great chance for social and recreational players to enter a tournament without feeling intimidated by players of league standard.”
The Active Together Project runs lots of different sessions and tournaments to improve the amount of physical activity that adults do.
