A series of employment fairs aimed at giving people the skills to get back into work are being held across Blaby district in February.

The Back to Work in 2011 events, organised by Blaby District Council, will see agencies provide information and advice to give the unemployed and those facing redundancy a better chance of finding work in the coming year.

People attending can get advice on training and adult education courses, interview and job application skills as well as information on volunteering options, work experience and starting a new business.

Events will take place in the following locations:

  • Living Rock Church, Stoney Stanton – Wednesday 2 February, 10am -12noon.
  • Park House, Stamford Street, Glenfield – Thursday 10 February, 9am – 11am.
  • Thorpe Astley Community Centre, Lakin Drive – Wednesday 16 February, 2pm – 4pm.

Councillor Jackie Dickinson, growth, development and assets portfolio holder said:

“Unemployment is a major concern at the moment so it is important that the Council works with partners to come up with the right solutions to support local people.

“The aim of these events is to help people find routes back into work.”

Limited free car parking and refreshments will be available.

Local employers wishing to match job seekers to their vacancies are also invited to take part.
