Posted on June 19, 2013June 19, 2013 by staff

active arts bouskell parkThis Saturday immerse yourself in a day of arts, craft and culture at Blaby’s Bouskell Park.

Voluntary group Active Arts has teamed up with Blaby District Council to host Arts in the Park – a major family event with a host of innovative activities.

Have a go at a wide range of free activities including making a kite, take part in a drumming workshop, try your hand at clay modelling, join in with a willow workshop or enjoy some maypole dancing.

There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, Peppa Pig and a tombola, as well as food stalls, refreshments, and a number of local groups including Blaby Heritage, Blaby Drama Group, A Place to Grow and the Leicester Forest Photographic Society.

Councillor David Clements, Corporate Services, Performance and Leisure portfolio holder at Blaby District Council, said:

“Arts in the Park is a fantastic collaboration between the Council and the local community. There are so many different activities taking place that there really is something for everyone.”

The day starts at 10am with activities taking place at the Blaby Precinct and Farmers Market.

There will be stories and a free craft event in the Library from 10.30am, and Blaby Society of Artists will be holding an Art Exhibition and selling refreshments in the Drop-in Centre from 10am.

Bouskell Park will then play host to a number of stalls and workshops from 12pm – 4pm. Rain will not stop play, and plans are in place whatever the weather.
