The Bank Holiday weekend ‘charity extravaganza’ at Enderby & District Social Club was, in the words of Kate Harrington, an “Amazing success”.
Kate and co-organiser Ruth of the ‘Air Ambulance’ were speechless when they were presented with a cheque at the presentation evening.
Money was being raised for the Help for Heroes and the Air Ambulance charities.
The event raised over £2000, (a thousand pounds for each charity).
The raffle was a roaring success. Nearly a thousand tickets sold.
A special thanks to Barbara G for for her ticket selling effort and to all the local businesses that gave a prize.
The football tournament was a roaring success and plans are already afoot to improve with the provision of food and drinks pitch side.
Sunday’s children’s day was fantastic with bouncy castle, face painting, games, races and crafts entertaining all the kids.
Monday’s Pram race attracted a good number of entries …but not one good enough to beat Team Milner for the second successive year. I feel the gauntlet has been laid down for next year already!
I also have to report there were no major injuries or embarrassments in the tug of war, a staple of this weekend.
Local business man Rico also ended up in the stocks, raising even more for these fine causes.
Finally the BBQ was the icing on the cake. Glorious weather, real ale (donated by Coors and Everads). Not only did Bob run out of gas – but Burgers too!!
Thanks to the Club’s Stewardess, Caroline Clark and Bob Mackness for their tireless support and effort to make this happen.
Roll on 2014!! we aim to beat the fund-raising record!
