Blaby is the most improved area in Leicestershire for active residents according to a Sport England report.
Measuring people aged over 16 years old to see how active they are, Sport England’s Active Lives report revealed that 62.9% of Blaby District residents were considered “active,” undertaking over 150 minutes of exercise per week between November 2016 and November 2017.
The results show that the district has seen the biggest increase of active residents in the county, up 4.5% from the previous year.
Teresa Neal, Group Manager for Regulatory and Leisure Services, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the findings of this report.
“We’ve worked hard to ensure access is available for people of all ages and abilities to become active.
“The report places us in the top 15% of local authorities for active residents across the country, and highlights both the success of our leisure services team and our residents, whose enthusiasm and participation in physical activity is increasing.”
Blaby District Council’s Sport and Physical Activity team provide a wide range of opportunities for residents to get more active, including Falls Prevention programmes, an Exercise Referral Scheme, family activities and a mobile skate park.
