Arts in the Park, organised by Blaby District Council and voluntary group Active Arts, boasted a wide range of activities including kite making, drumming, willow and clay modelling workshops, face painting, maypole dancing, and a bouncy castle.

A number of local groups including Blaby Heritage, Blaby Drama Group, A Place to Grow and the Leicester Forest Photographic Society were also there throughout the day.

Sharon Bown, Arts Development Officer for Active Arts, said:

“Lots of people of all ages have said how much they enjoyed the event and that BouskellPark was a wonderful venue to hold it.

“There was a real community spirit with lots of local groups being involved and having fun. It worked well having events throughout the day in Blaby with the Farmers Market, library and Society of Arts at the drop-in centre as well as the afternoon on the park.”

Helen Harris from Blaby who went with her mum and three children, said:

“Whilst I was busy weaving a willow fish, my three children disappeared and enjoyed skipping with Skipping Henry, the Xplorer orienteering around BouskellPark and making an Utterly Butterly Ukulele. What a wonderful event for all ages. Well done to Active Arts.”
