2016 Sports Awards nominations OPEN!

Blaby LSA Sports Awards 2015Nominations for the seventh annual Blaby District Council Local Sports Alliance Sports Awards (LSA) have opened.

Sponsored by Nest Estate Agents, the Blaby District LSA Sports Awards gives residents the opportunity to honour the unsung heroes or outstanding sports stars and teams within the local area.

The awards will take place on Thursday 17 November 2016 at Countesthorpe College, as finalists in ten categories are honoured for their incredible efforts during the previous year.

Anyone living in Blaby District, representing a school or club within the area is eligible to be nominated in the applicable category, including:

  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Team of the Year (16+)
  • Young Team of the Year
  • Sports Person of the Year (16+)
  • Sports Person (with a disability) of the Year (16+)
  • Young Sports Person of the Year (under 16)
  • Young Sports Person (with a disability) of the Year (under 16)
  • Active 4 life – Health & Wellbeing Award
  • Blaby LSA Special Recognition award

Councillor Sheila Scott, Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure, said:

“We are so proud to offer these awards. Every year we receive so many nominations and this shows the fantastic sporting prowess within Blaby District.

“Along with the Outstanding Achievement Awards, these awards are our way to honour those people who have both accomplished such extraordinary feats or been selfless volunteers.”

Previous winners include Outstanding Archer Lizzie Warner and professional cyclist Grace Garner.

Nominations close on Sunday 9 October.
